Originally released as a limited edition CD licensed to another label in 2005, The Hidden Nameless finally returns home and gets an anticipated reissue on Niko Skorpio’s own label Some Place Else. It is perhaps the purest dark ambient album from Niko Skorpio, yet executed with an experimental and innovative angle. With certain haunting Lovecraftian flavour, the album captures the ears of imaginative listeners with its extreme deepness and desolate, otherworldly atmosphere.

The Hidden Nameless was created in 2003 & 2004 on various locations in and around Turku, Finland, employing sampler, location recordings, synth, bass guitar, dsp, percussion, cut-ups and vocals.

The reissue contains two additional, exclusive tracks not included in the first edition of this album. They date from the same period and utilize the same source material as the other tracks, but remained unfinished until autumn 2009.

The exclusive tracks are also available separately to download from Klicktrack.

Hæretici 7o74 appear on SilKMilK 4, which is an art book & compilation dvd/cd published in Australia by renowned artist/magician Orryelle Defenestrate-Bascule. The exclusive track Panspermia was composed and recorded in December 2009.

It’s my latest release and something I’m personally a lot more fond of than most older material (some of which we’ll return to later on). NeitherSphere is related to the album Half Born in Half Light, and the “album version” included in this package is from that album. The 7″ shoplifters mix is somewhat similar to the live version played on the recent concerts. Karni Mata Dub, remixed by Karni Mata (obviously), approaches the original from a totally unexpected angle and, well, kicks ass in my not so humble opinion. :-)

This release was inspired by and conceived in the post-Living Room limbo, a temporary state of darkness in the middle of the brightest summer. Tracks 1 and 3 were recorded in live performances during Spring 2005. Track 2 constructed from location recordings made in Spring & Summer 2005. Originally released on CDR as a limited edition of 93 copies, hand-numbered, in hand-painted sleeve.

Elektra was perhaps the most literally industrial venue I’ve ever visited, being a former Soviet military fur hat factory (and a restricted area); a chilly maze of old concrete spiced up with camouflage, tons of gas masks on the walls etc. Quite an experience! As the change of the calendar is at hand, I’ll briefly note that the year 2009 for me has been challenging, illuminating, rewarding, refreshing… and most of this in a rather unexpected or unusual account. Various changes occured, mostly on the level of ideas, habits and attitudes, which is always good. Never let a skin grow too old on you. But I’ll keep it short since the next year wants my attention on various things. Wishing a happy and adventurous new year to all!

It’s -23 degrees Celcius outside. The air is crispy, and the sky clear for the Sun to rise and shine for those few precious hours. Working on some illustrations. Preparing in my mind the live set for Riga.

With Hæretici 7o74, we’re mixing a track for a compilation. We now have two mixes radically different from each other. Each sounds fantastic on their own. Additionally, curious results appear when playing them simultaneously…

Below are some photos from a few days ago. We couldn’t get the dog that far out into the woods at today’s temperatures! No wonder, he’s an Ibizan, anyway. Which reminds me… last night I visited Morocco in a dream, with an online friend I’ve never met in person… or awake. The locals practised an obscure tradition inherited from a pre-desert Saharan civilization to which we, too, were then initiated in.

It’s time for a big cup of hot black coffee.

Suits me fine, and actually further feeds my interest; such a territory is merely a grey area mostly defined as anything that won’t fit the canon of consensus reality. And Consensus Reality, anyway, is a sphincter too tight and rigid to match the Universe as I’ve come to experience it for as long as I can remember. In other words — you think you’ll travel far away and then suddenly arrive to a destination just a block away from home.
