Sentient Debris is a composition made exclusively for the 20th anniversary of Avaruusromua, a radio show at YLE Radio 1. It’s available for free download until July 4th. Other artists who contributed are Pekka Airaksinen, Mika Vainio, Zoät-Aon, Anton Nikkilä, Lackluster, Nemesis and many more.

Kaaos In Eccentris was formed by Mockingwyrd, Niko Skorpio and Ovro in the summer of 2003 as an amorphous platform for collaborations in improvisatory setting. Besides the core of three, most sessions were also attended by like-minded coconspirators such as Dr. von Pfosforus, VIII and others.

Selected Works 2003-2006 presents the highlights, and perhaps the deepest depths, of various Kaaos In Eccentris sessions from the active period of 2003-2006. Prior to this compilation, the only public work by Kaaos in Eccentris was a track recorded late 2003 that appeared on a split 7” with Leif Elggren and Liddikoatight (Some Place Else 2004).

Selected Works 2003-2006 documents a unique fusion of diverse creative individuals driven towards a mutual goal directed by the emerging sound itself. Post-production and editing of the tracks have been kept at minimum, mostly just mixing and equalization were employed.

It seems I failed to post about it here previously: the complete A\H recordings are available for free download. A\H was a minimal electro clickety-glitch proto-post-technoid Retarded Dance Music (like IDM without much “intelligent”, “dance” or “music” in it…) project I did from around 1998 to 2001.

All sounds were made with VAZ and VAZ Modular virtual synths. I think the first ep Palat was recorded from the computer to a Fostex portable 4-tracker, the rest were captured digitally. The original VAZ (v. 1.5 I recall), with a simple step sequencer and two oscillators, used to be freeware back in the day, but apparently no longer available from the vendor (however, a little browsing brought some results). It’s many years since I used them, though, having moved to Ableton, Native Instruments and Pure Data in the new millennium, but anyway, they were lots of fun to play around with, especially the modular brought some interesting results when used “all wrong”…

Originally released as a limited edition CD licensed to another label in 2005, The Hidden Nameless finally returns home and gets an anticipated reissue on Niko Skorpio’s own label Some Place Else. It is perhaps the purest dark ambient album from Niko Skorpio, yet executed with an experimental and innovative angle. With certain haunting Lovecraftian flavour, the album captures the ears of imaginative listeners with its extreme deepness and desolate, otherworldly atmosphere.

The Hidden Nameless was created in 2003 & 2004 on various locations in and around Turku, Finland, employing sampler, location recordings, synth, bass guitar, dsp, percussion, cut-ups and vocals.

The reissue contains two additional, exclusive tracks not included in the first edition of this album. They date from the same period and utilize the same source material as the other tracks, but remained unfinished until autumn 2009.

The exclusive tracks are also available separately to download from Klicktrack.

Hæretici 7o74 appear on SilKMilK 4, which is an art book & compilation dvd/cd published in Australia by renowned artist/magician Orryelle Defenestrate-Bascule. The exclusive track Panspermia was composed and recorded in December 2009.

Next up in my “free download campaign” is NeitherSphere ep. It’s my latest release and something I’m personally a lot more fond of than most older material (some of which we’ll return to later on). This ep used to be available for free in a lower bitrate, but now it’s all 320k q1 MP3.

NeitherSphere is related to the album Half Born in Half Light, and the “album version” included in this package is from that album. The 7″ shoplifters mix is somewhat similar to the live version played on the recent concerts. Karni Mata Dub, remixed by Karni Mata (obviously), approaches the original from a totally unexpected angle and, well, kicks ass in my not so humble opinion. :-)
