This EP contains two radical new mixes presenting different aspects of the key track from the highly acclaimed Half Born in Half Light album. 7″ shoplifters mix, remixed by Niko Skorpio, strips away some of the drones to give emphasis to the complex tribal rhythms, also revealing the vibrant bassline. Karni Mata Dub, remixed by new acquaintance Karni Mata, shows the original tune completely taken to pieces and rebuilt as an all new track ruled by wild synths and hectic syncopated beats. The original ten-minute version is also included.

“NeitherSphere (7” Shoplifters Mix)” is an almost half shorter remix by Niko himself and the rhythm is in a bit more important role here. The psychedelic atmosphere of the original has been maintained and the “vocals” are just as much effected. You could imagine this being played in some really hazy club in the middle of space while some strange aliens are dancing slowly totally out of their minds… On the quite radical Karni Mata dub mix the track has been sliced to pieces and then reconstructed to obtain a very different end result. This too sounds psychedelic. Then we also get the over ten-minute-long ambient-drone original, that also has quite a lot of experimental, industrial influences. This track makes me confused somehow. The seriously trippy video that is also on YouTube apparently focuses on showing the electronic flow in the braincells which works very well. “The EP opens with the 7″ Shoplifters Mix by Niko himself that makes for an even more dancable and dancefloor-friendly piece of music. Don’t get me wrong, it would still be out of the ordinary in most clubs, but as far as Some Place Else goes, this is very accessible. Karni Mata gives us a dub remix that sits somewhere between the original and the first mix and is a nice interpretation of the original. Last up is the ten minute original. It’s a small, but excellent EP of about twenty minutes that is suitable for those who are unfamiliar with the label and are curious, or for those who find Niko’s regular sound a bit hard to digest.” (IkEcht)

“Yli kaksikymmentäminuuttia saman kappaleen äärellä ei kuitenkaan pääse puuduttamaan, sillä kaksi remiksaus versiota lähestyvät aihetta tyystin uusista kulmista. Skorpion itsensä luoma 7” Shoplifters mix avaa ovet kaukaiseen itään ja mystiikan alkulähteille. Kappaleen juurista löydetään voimakkaan rytminen maailma, joka tuntuu leijuvan väreilevän ohuen vesikerroksen alla. Dark ambient elää näkemyksessä rytmikkäänä ja karsittu äänimaisema toimii kokonaisuuden eduksi, sillä kaikesta monimutkaisuudestaan huolimatta raita etenee johdonmukaisesti alusta loppuun. Oikeanlainen karsiminen onkin se asia, joka on jäänyt aiemmilta Skorpion tuotoksilta puuttumaan. Toisena kuultava Karni Mata dub korostaa niinikään biisin rytmikkyyttä, mutta tyylillisesti näkemyksillä ei ole paljoakaan yhteistä. Matka vie nyt jonnekin industrialpopin öisiin kaupunkikuviin ja suurten katulamppujen valaisemiin varastohallien seiniin, joista Karni Matan näkemys heijastelee ääniä kohti tähtien täyttämää taivasta. Bonuksena levyltä löytyy vielä alkuperäinen, yli kymmenminuuttinen albumiversio, joka osoittaa kuinka kauas versioinnissa ja karsinnassa onkaan päästy. Usein alkuperäinen on alkuperäinen, mutta tällä kertaa uudet näkemykset vievät puhtaan voiton. Mikäli kokeellinen elektroninen musiikki kiinnostaa ja Skorpion aiempi tuotanto on tuttua kannattaa tämä mini ehdottomasti hankkia, sillä näytteiden perusteella herran tyyli on kehittymässä ja suunta on mielestäni ainoastaan positiivinen.” (Desibeli)

“Siinä missä kymmenen minuuttinen albumiversio oli koliseva ja humiseva drone-viipyily, on tuotoksen avaava 7″ shoplifters mix huomattavasti rytmikkäämpi, ehkä jonnekin tribal industrialin puoleen nyökkäävä rymistely, joka viimeistellään huojuvilla vokaaleilla.
